Introduction to Life Skill Sessions

January 26, 2023

EBS has specifically designed and introduced Life Skills Sessions for our Secondary students, in place with the knowledge of the Holy Quran at the heart of it. We aim to provide basic 21st century skills focusing on instilling timeless values of our religion that guides the students to gauge their abilities and skills in the light of Islam that will help them in this life and in hereafter!

For this purpose, we were privileged to arrange our first Life Skill Session with Mr. Mufti Najeeb Khan who is an Islamic Scholar, reputed expert in the field of Islamic Finance and holds a degree of specialization (Takhassus) from Jamia Darul Uloom, Karachi.

The topic of discussion was Islamic Financial Literacy. He spoke about the concept of wealth, halal sources of income, where and where not to spend our wealth as well as the importance of Zakat. He also taught students how to calculate zakat which is an important piece of knowledge for every Muslim. Lastly, Mufti Najeeb emphasized on the importance of giving charity and donations! We would like to thank Mr. Mufti Najeeb for taking out time for our students and imparting such valuable knowledge!

Our second Guest Speaker for the Life Skill Sessions held for the Secondary Section was Dr. Zeeshan Ahmed - one of the leading management educationists in the country. His mission and passion is to change the society by reforming the education system. His crucial dialogue exchange with senior students about career choices and social and moral values that matter most in life was received warmly by the student body. Thank you Dr. Zeeshan for your valuable insights!

Life Skill Session’s next guest was Ms. Nausheen Farrukh, a Clinical Psychologist, Wellness Trainer & Psychology Instructor.

Her valuable input about the importance of emotional health and tips for mental wellbeing were greatly appreciated by the students. She spoke about how important it is to acknowledge one’s feelings and take care of mental health just as you would for your physical health. She also carried out a few engaging activities with the students to assess the mental wellbeing of each student. It is necessary to create awareness about such topics and help students realise their potential! We’d like to thank Ms Nausheen for her time and effort in conducting such an insightful session.

Our final guest speaker for the Life Skill Session was Mr Shuja uddin Sheikh - an eminent Islamic Scholar & Ameer of Tanzeem-e-Islami Pakistan founded by Dr. Israr Ahmed. His thought-provoking views about the true purpose of life and enjoying it within the boundaries set by our Creator were well-received by all students. The Life Skill Session series were truly inspiring for both the students and staff alike. Listening to experiences on a variety of topics through such capable and knowledgeable individuals was a privilege!
